Basketball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

Foothill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Newark Memorial Cougars, falling 52-19.

Despite the loss, Foothill still got an impressive performance from Joyce Runner, who posted ten points. That was a full 52.6% of Foothill's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Newark Memorial had a senior duo take command as Sydney Scott earned 13 points and Angelina Baca had 14 points. Another player making a difference was Rianna Bowker, who posted seven points.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Foothill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 90-19 defeat against Sheldon on the 6th. As for Newark Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-34 loss against Rio Linda on the 6th.
