Basketball Recap: 13 Straight Home Wins for Lynwood

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lynwood had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-53 win over the Lakewood Lancers. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Lancers are ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lynwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shanilah Ewing, who went 7-for-9 on her way to 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Iheanachor, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards.

Despite the loss, Lakewood still got an impressive performance from Nyemah King, who posted 19 points and eight rebounds. King's evening made it 27 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Dionna Bradley was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Lynwood pushed their record up to 16-13 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points over those games. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-8.

Lynwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-47 loss against North on the 19th. Lakewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
