Basketball Game Preview: Yuba City Honkers vs. Roseville Tigers

The Yuba City Honkers will square off against the Roseville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yuba City will be strutting in after a win while Roseville will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Yuba City turned things around against Nevada Union on Wednesday. They walked away with a 41-31 victory over the Miners.

Yuba City's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Juliana Vasquez, who went 11 for 20 on her way to 17 points, and Cythlali Cortez, who went 7 of 13 en route to 12 points along with seven boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Vasquez a new career-high in points.

Yuba City was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Roseville's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Twelve Bridges.

Yuba City's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-14. As for Roseville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Things could have been worse for Yuba City, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-26 loss to Roseville in their previous matchup on January 3rd. Can Yuba City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
