Basketball Recap: Yosemite Comes Up Short

Yosemite lost against Parlier back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yosemite Badgers fell 56-45 to the Parlier Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1033rd, while the Panthers are ranked 334th).

When it comes to explaining why Yosemite lost, don't look at Jadyn Johnson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 22 boards. That was a full 37.8% of Yosemite's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kaydynn Ellis, who put up 13 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Yosemite smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.4 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.5.

This is the second loss in a row for Yosemite and nudges their season record down to 7-15. As for Parlier, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Yosemite didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-27 victory against Riverdale on the 28th. Parlier has also already played their next game, a 75-25 win against Fowler on the 28th.
