Softball Recap: Noble Takes a Loss

Noble extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-14. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elgin Owls. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 two weeks ago.

As for Elgin, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

For Elgin's part, Kynslie Maples spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Maples has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Melton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kynli Garrett, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Noble will welcome Shawnee at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elgin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Enid at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
