Baseball Recap: Augusta Christian Takes a Loss

Augusta Christian managed to slip by Hammond the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Augusta Christian Lions came up short against the Hammond Skyhawks on Tuesday, falling 16-6. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Skyhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Mason Fernandes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Sease, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Augusta Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Hammond, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

While Augusta Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
