Softball Recap: Mead Mavericks vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mead). They put the hurt on the Resurrection Christian Cougars with a sharp 14-4 win on Friday. With that victory, the Mavericks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Rosie Robuck was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other pitching news, Abbie Hausotter looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Ari Tovar and Zoe Mowers did most of the damage at the plate: Tovar got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base, while Mowers went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Those four runs gave Tovar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mykell Kennedy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Mead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mead's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Resurrection Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
