Softball Recap: Fremont's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Norfolk, Fremont was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Lincoln High Links. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Megan Thomson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Raeleigh Schmid, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Smithhisler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Fremont's win bumped their record up to 3-16. As for Lincoln High, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Fremont will face off against rival Lincoln Southeast at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lincoln High is set to challenge their familiar foe Omaha North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
