Basketball Recap: Morro Bay Comes Up Short

Morro Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 68-30 loss at the hands of the St. Joseph Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-32 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Joseph to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ali Mayes, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 boards gave Mayes a new career-high. Annalyssa Cota was another key player, going 10 for 16 on her way to 21 points and five steals.

Morro Bay's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for St. Joseph, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Morro Bay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-50 defeat against Orcutt Academy on the 11th. As for St. Joseph, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-38 win against Righetti on the 11th.
