Softball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Comes Up Short

Washington-Wilkes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Swainsboro. Washington-Wilkes was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Swainsboro apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2021.

Molly Dawson and Morgan Dove stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dawson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Dove went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Dawson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Washington-Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Swainsboro, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, Washington-Wilkes will face off against Oglethorpe County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Swainsboro has already played their next match (against Statesboro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
