Basketball Recap: Mallard Creek Mavericks vs. Hopewell Titans
Mallard Creek lost against Hopewell back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mallard Creek Mavericks lost to the Hopewell Titans on the road by a 77-63 margin. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Titans are ranked 22nd).

When it comes to explaining why Mallard Creek lost, don't look at Jordyn Washington. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 14 on his way to 21 points. Washington has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Aiden Roberson, who posted ten points and five rebounds.
Hopewell had a senior duo take command as Arael Jones dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards and Kamari Cooke went 10 of 16 on his way to 27 points.
