Baseball Recap: Dutchtown Takes a Loss

Dutchtown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 19-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Langston Hughes Panthers. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Logan Leonard and Devin Kendall stepped up to the plate in a big way. Leonard went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Kendall went 2-for-5 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Leonard has become a key player for Dutchtown: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerell Woods, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Dutchtown's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Langston Hughes, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dutchtown will venture away from home to challenge McIntosh at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Langston Hughes, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Langston Hughes Panthers face off against Newnan Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Newnan will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Langston Hughes surely won't give up without a fight.
