Basketball Game Preview: Credo Gryphon vs. Sonoma Academy Coyotes

Credo is 2-8 against Sonoma Academy since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Credo Gryphon will look to defend their home court against the Sonoma Academy Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Credo: 28.7, Sonoma Academy: 25.2) so any points scored will be well earned.

Last Friday, Credo didn't have too much trouble with Roseland University Prep as they won 27-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gryphon.

Among those leading the charge was Zoe LaFleur, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Sonoma Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against the Wolverines as they made off with a 55-35 victory. The Coyotes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Credo is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.6 points per game. As for Sonoma Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Credo was taken down by Sonoma Academy 51-21 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Credo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
