Preview: Frazier Commodores vs. Jeannette Jayhawks
Frazier is 4-0 against Jeannette since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Frazier Commodores will head out on the road to challenge the Jeannette Jayhawks at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Frazier pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to California 60-56. Frazier has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Allie Yauch, who scored 23 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Chloe Harger was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jeannette was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 32-27 to Leechburg. Jeannette has struggled against Leechburg recently, as their matchup on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Jeannette had strong showings from Venicia Vignoli, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals, and Adriana Allison, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Vignoli is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mary Jones, who scored two points along with 11 rebounds.
Frazier has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Jeannette, they bumped their record down to 6-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Wednesday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Yauch and Allison. Yauch has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 13.3 points, 3.2 steals, and 1.9 assists. For her part, Allison has averaged 13.1 points and 3.9 steals.
Everything came up roses for Frazier against Jeannette when the teams last played back in February of 2018 as the team secured a 77-33 win. Does Frazier have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jeannette turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
