Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Wheatland

Wheatland entered their tilt with Pierce City on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 40-36 win over the Pierce City Eagles. Given the Mules' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Eagles are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wheatland's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Pierce City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatland will face off against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. As for Pierce City, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lockwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. Lockwood will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Pierce City surely won't give up without a fight.
