Basketball Preview: High Point Baptist Academy Eagles vs. Linville Hill
The High Point Baptist Academy Eagles will head out on the road to square off against Linville Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though High Point Baptist Academy has not done well against the Flames recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. High Point Baptist Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Flames 34-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for High Point Baptist Academy.
Meanwhile, Linville Hill had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They slipped by Coventry Christian 1-0. Given Linville Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the are ranked 665th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
High Point Baptist Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Linville Hill, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for High Point Baptist Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-25 loss to the in their previous matchup last Friday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Linville Hill's Courtney Good, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
