Baseball Recap: Elbert County's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Elbert County came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Oglethorpe County Patriots with a sharp 12-0 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brock Dye tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cheyvis Mclendon was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Amabile, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Elbert County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Elbert County's record is now 14-6. As for Oglethorpe County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
