Basketball Recap: Tenya Bailey and Heaven Graves Secure Win for Fortune Early College

There's no place like home for Fortune Early College, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 43-32 win over the Westlake Charter Explorers on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-43 back in January.

Fortune Early College was led to victory by Heaven Graves and Tenya Bailey. Graves posted 14 points along with six assists and three steals, while Bailey earned 17 points. Zaniyah Jenkins was another key player, putting up four points and seven boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Fortune Early College was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westlake Charter only posted four assists.

Despite the defeat, Westlake Charter had strong showings from Amiliana Moore, who had seven points and 12 rebounds, and Madysen Gibbs, who scored ten points. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in boards.

Fortune Early College pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Westlake Charter, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

Fortune Early College is taking a road trip to square off against Elite at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Westlake Charter, they will host Leroy Greene Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
