Basketball Game Preview: Clearfield Bison vs. Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders

Clearfield is 0-3 against Bishop Guilfoyle since December of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Clearfield Bison will take on the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders at 7:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Clearfield sitting on five straight victories and Bishop Guilfoyle on seven.

Clearfield is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Bellefonte: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Clearfield blew Bellefonte out of the water with a 64-24 final score. With the Bison ahead 46-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Clearfield's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eve Helsel, who posted 23 points. Sonny Diehl was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Guilfoyle). Everything went their way against Huntingdon on Tuesday as Bishop Guilfoyle made off with a 71-45 win. The Marauders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.

Clearfield is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

Clearfield came up short against Bishop Guilfoyle when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 54-50. Can Clearfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
