After a string of ten wins, Maize South's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints. If the Mavericks were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Saints when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Saint Thomas Aquinas scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18.

Maize South's loss dropped their record down to 17-2. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.

Maize South has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Bishop Carroll on the 27th. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against St. James Academy on the 30th.
