Softball Game Preview: Blackwell Maroons vs. Ponca City Wildcats

The Blackwell Maroons will venture away from home to challenge the Ponca City Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Blackwell came into this matchup off a tough six-run loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Hennessey by a score of 5-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Maroons have suffered since September 2nd.

Meanwhile, Ponca City fell victim to Enid and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Plainsmen, falling 11-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Wildcats haven't been shut out since back in August.

Ponca City's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6. As for Blackwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-17.
