Baseball Recap: Gilroy Victorious

Evergreen Valley typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Gilroy proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 17-14. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Abram Valdez was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Passama, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Gilroy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Gilroy's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Evergreen Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
