Hardaway came out on top against Jordan on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Hawks never let the Red Jackets get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Daisia Crutchfield, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Huff, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Hardaway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Taylor County hit Shaw with a five-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders lost 11-1 to the Vikings. The Raiders have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
The victory made it two in a row for Hardaway and bumps their season record up to 10-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Shaw, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
Shaw's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Hardaway has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Shaw, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Hardaway keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
