Recap: North Star Cougars vs. McConnellsburg Spartans
The North Star Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They snuck past McConnellsburg with a 37-32 victory. For North Star, this counts as revenge for the 64-59 defeat McConnellsburg walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2017.
Abby Barnick continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of North Star's points. Emily Johnston was another key contributor, scoring six points.
North Star's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for McConnellsburg, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3.
North Star will be home for the holidays to greet Windber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McConnellsburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Williamsburg at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
