Football Recap: Mayer Lutheran Takes a Loss

Mayer Lutheran and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Mayer Lutheran had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 50-14 loss at the hands of the Thunderbirds. The Crusaders' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Mayer Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabriel Shimanski rushed for 57 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries.

Mayer Lutheran now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Mayer Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they will square off against Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran on Saturday. Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran's defense has only allowed 5.2 points per game this season, so Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's offense will have their work cut out for them.
