Softball Recap: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Lincoln North Star Navigators
Lincoln Northeast had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 11-21 to make it five. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln North Star Navigators. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Navigators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 last Wednesday.
Paige Perry was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Dezi Swenson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
As for Lincoln North Star, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-18 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.
On Lincoln North Star's side, Remy Sunken was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Sunken was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Miller-Willis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Knox, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
As of now, neither Lincoln Northeast nor Lincoln North Star have any future games scheduled.
