Basketball Game Preview: Washington Prexies vs. Charleroi Cougars

The Washington Prexies will head out on the road to challenge the Charleroi Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Charleroi took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Washington, who comes in off a win.

Washington took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Brownsville 41-39. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Prexies as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier King led the charge by going 6 for 9 en route to 15 points and five boards. Those 15 points gave King a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Woods, who posted eight points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Charleroi was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Waynesburg Central, falling 55-33.

Charleroi's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Everything went Washington's way against Charleroi in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Washington made off with a 50-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
