Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mendocino last Tuesday, Grace Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Grace Christian Academy Lions lost 65-43 to the Point Arena Pirates on Friday. The matchup was a close 26-25 at the break, but unfortunately for the Lions it sure didn't stay that way.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Point Arena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hattie Piper, who posted 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Piper has scored at least a third of Point Arena's points. Another player making a difference was Giselle Mejia Fuentes, who earned 16 points.

The loss snapped Grace Christian Academy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record. As for Point Arena, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.

Grace Christian Academy has already played their next game (against Tomales), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Point Arena will head out on the road to square off against Potter Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Point Arena is facing Potter Valley at the right time seeing as Potter Valley is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
