Baseball Recap: Nelson County Governors vs. Gretna Hawks

Nelson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gretna Hawks. The Governors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

Chase Ferguson put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Ferguson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keyshawn Woodson, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Nelson County's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Gretna, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-16.

Looking ahead, Nelson County will challenge William Campbell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gretna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
