Baseball Game Preview: Elbert County Blue Devils vs. Providence Christian Academy Storm

The Elbert County Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Providence Christian Academy Storm at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Elbert County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Elbert County was able to grind out a solid victory over Lincoln County, taking the game 8-3. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Sam Amabile made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Alex Higginbotham looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, Brycin Hughes was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Cheyvis McClendon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Providence Christian Academy earned a 7-4 victory over Elbert County on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Storm.

Elbert County pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Elbert County came up short against Providence Christian Academy in their previous matchup on Tuesday, falling 7-4. Can Elbert County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
