Softball Recap: Tiftarea Academy Comes Up Short

If Tiftarea Academy was feeling good fresh off their 14-6 takedown of Deerfield-Windsor on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Terrell Academy Eagles by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

Summer Gray put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gray was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Gray wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Coley Beth Croft, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Tiftarea Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Terrell Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

While Tiftarea Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
