Basketball Recap: Woodside Takes a Loss

Woodside was the 74-41 winner over Leigh when they last played one another back in June of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Woodside Wildcats took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leigh Longhorns on Saturday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leigh found their leader in sophomore Ashley Saban, who posted 24 points and five rebounds. Those 24 points gave Saban a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Catalina Williams, who earned 11 points.

Woodside now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Leigh, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodside will venture away from home to challenge Pioneer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Leigh, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
