Recap: Mary Star of the Sea Stars vs. Serra Cavaliers

The Mary Star of the Sea Stars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Serra, falling 51-15. While losing is never fun, Mary Star of the Sea can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1111th, while Serra is ranked 515th).

Serra got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jadah Foster out in front who scored nine points along with six steals. Mariah Lewis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Mary Star of the Sea's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Serra, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mary Star of the Sea will take on San Pedro at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Serra, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Saint Joseph at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Saint Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
