Soccer Recap: Orange Lutheran's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Orange Lutheran had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while the Nighthawks are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Joey Birkbeck and Kaelyn Dionicio scored both of Orange Lutheran's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

The win was the third in a row for Orange Lutheran, bringing their record for this year to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Murrieta Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
