Basketball Recap: Tempe Prep Comes Up Short

Tempe Prep had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-10 to make it six. They had to suffer through a 60-14 loss at the hands of the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Coyotes are ranked 82nd).

As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Arizona Lutheran Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Ohm led the charge by shooting 56% from the field to rack up 10 points and five steals. That's the most points Ohm has posted since back in January of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Peltzer, who scored nine points and five rebounds.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Tempe Prep will face off against rival Heritage Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Arizona Lutheran Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Horizon Honors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
