Basketball Game Preview: Cornerstone Christian Cougars vs. Sacramento Adventist Capitals

The Cornerstone Christian Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Sacramento Adventist Capitals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cornerstone Christian heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Saturday. They fell just short of Ferndale by a score of 53-51. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Sacramento Adventist unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to Faith Christian on the road by a 52-33 margin. While losing is never fun, the Capitals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Lions are ranked 167th).

Cornerstone Christian will have to contain Victoria Fowler as she made an impact in Sacramento Adventist's last game. She posted ten points and five boards. What's more, Fowler also posted a 75% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Gwen Rosich, who put up six points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Sacramento Adventist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Sacramento Adventist's loss dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Cornerstone Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-10.

Cornerstone Christian came up short against Sacramento Adventist in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, falling 54-41. Thankfully for Cornerstone Christian, Gwen Fayard (who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time.
