Soccer Game Preview: Palos Verdes vs. West

The Palos Verdes Sea Kings will face off against the West Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Palos Verdes has three straight victories, West has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

If Palos Verdes beats West with four goals on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Palos Verdes was the clear victor by a 4-1 margin over Mira Costa on Friday. Considering the Sea Kings have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, West's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 2-0 to Redondo Union. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Sea Hawks are ranked fourth).

Palos Verdes is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for West, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Everything went Palos Verdes' way against West when the teams last played last Thursday, as Palos Verdes made off with a 6-0 win. Will Palos Verdes repeat their success, or does West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
