Baseball Game Preview: Northside Mustangs vs. Amundsen Vikings

For the second straight game, Northside will face off against Amundsen. The Mustangs will take on the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Northside is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

On Wednesday, Northside was able to grind out a solid victory over Amundsen, taking the game 6-1.

Leir Dierdorff was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dierdorff was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other pitching news, Will Moran tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.

Back at the plate, Jesse Nick and Christian Ruiz did most of the damage at the plate: Nick went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Ruiz went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Ruiz a new career-high.

Northside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Amundsen's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5-1. As for Northside, their record is now 6-3.
