Softball Recap: Monroe Gets the Win

Monroe proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 25) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Cascade Bruins. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bearcats also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2025.

The team relied heavily on Sophia Jeske, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Olivia Wheadon also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Monroe back to even at 7-7. As for Cascade, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

Coming up, Monroe will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Marysville Getchell at 6:30 p.m. As for Cascade, they will welcome Mountlake Terrace at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
