Baseball Game Preview: Shafter Generals vs. Dos Palos Broncos

Shafter is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Dos Palos is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Generals will welcome the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shafter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Shafter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Kern Valley 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Andy Gomez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Shafter let Jesiah Rodriguez and Nini Garcia run wild. Rodriguez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Garcia went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Garcia has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Noah Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Shafter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Dos Palos won against Coalinga on Tuesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Broncos won by a run and slipped past East Bakersfield 7-6.

Shafter's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Dos Palos, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
