Softball Recap: Greeley Central Takes a Loss

Greeley Central extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They came up short against the Roosevelt Roughriders, falling 23-0. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Roughriders from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

As for Roosevelt, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. That looming 23-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Roosevelt's part, Roz Muguerza was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Muguerza was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

In other pitching news, Lexi Arave looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Cali Bly was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Wiese, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greeley Central will head out to take on Skyline at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Roosevelt, they will venture away from home to challenge Longmont at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
