Soccer Game Preview: Sandia vs. Capital + How To Watch

The Sandia Matadors will venture away from home to take on the Capital Jaguars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Sandia is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: La Cueva, who was ranked first at the time (Sandia was ranked third). The Matadors fell just short of the Bears by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for Sandia in their meetings with La Cueva: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Capital hadn't done well against Santa Fe recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Demons 2-1. Capital wouldn't have won without Edwin Lopez, who scored the game-winner.

Capital's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Sandia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2-2.

Sandia beat Capital 2-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Matadors repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
