Basketball Recap: Union City Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Union City posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2024 on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Girard Yellowjackets as the Union City Bears made off with a 54-29 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-5.

Union City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Greer, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Greer a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Cummings, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points.

Union City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Union City's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for Girard, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union City has already played their next contest (against Mercyhurst Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Girard will head out on the road to take on Titusville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
