Baseball Recap: Twiggs County Comes Up Short

Twiggs County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-9. They came up short against the Georgia Military College Bulldogs, falling 21-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cobras of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Georgia Military College, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Georgia Military College's part, Chase McCrary made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McCrary has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Georgia Military College: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Georgia Military College got a massive performance out of Seth Ussery, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The Bulldogs are 9-1 when Ussery posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Micah Ward also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

While Twiggs County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
