Softball Recap: Osage Comes Up Short

Osage extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They lost 8-1 to the Iberia Rangers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for Iberia, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

For Iberia's part, Paylyn DeVore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kya Yoakum, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kily McElroy, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Osage will take on Hallsville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Hallsville has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Iberia, they will head out on the road to face off against Newburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
