Basketball Recap: Mica Mountain Takes a Loss

Mica Mountain played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 67-39 defeat at the hands of the Salpointe Catholic Lancers. The Thunderbolts haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Mica Mountain's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amaris Biancuzzo, who posted eight points, and Isabella Webb, who had ten points and five boards. What's more, Biancuzzo also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024.

Salpointe Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allison Even, who went 7 for 12 en route to 15 points. Sidney Anderson was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Mica Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Salpointe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Mica Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-33 victory against Buena on the 31st. As for Salpointe Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-39 win against Notre Dame Prep on the 1st.
