Football Recap: Skipstone Academy Comes Up Short

Skipstone Academy had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it seven. They were outmatched by the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning and fell 50-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 50-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

As for Lanier Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Lanier Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kellan Mack, who punched in one rushing score, and also threw for 67 yards and one touchdown on only five passes. The dominant performance also gave Mack a new career-high in rushing yards (four). Ben Hargis also helped with two scores in total.

Skipstone Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cross Keys at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Lanier Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-7 loss against Mt. Bethel Christian Academy on the 10th.
