Preview: Madera South Stallions vs. Sunnyside Wildcats
The Madera South Stallions will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Sunnyside Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Monday, Madera South was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-34 to Torres. Madera South has struggled against Torres recently, as their game on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from BRIANNAH LORTA, who scored 18 points. MICHELLE CORONA was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Sunnyside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Hoover by a score of 40-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Sunnyside has suffered yet this season.
Madera South has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Sunnyside, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Madera South came up short against Sunnyside in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 47-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sunnyside's Ruby Cartwright, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds.
