Soccer Game Preview: Hughes vs. Aiken

The Hughes BIG RED will head out to take on the Aiken Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hughes has given up an average of 5.8 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hughes fell victim to Northwest and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 10-0. The shutout was out of character for Hughes seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

Meanwhile, Aiken narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past DePaul Cristo Rey 3-2.

Aiken's win bumped their record up to 2-5-2. As for Hughes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Hughes suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Aiken when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the BIG RED avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
