Baseball Recap: South Bulldogs vs. Independence 76ers
South blew Independence out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Independence got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the 76ers by a score of 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since April 19, 2024.
South saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kellin Campbell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Campbell is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Ovanti Dennis was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
South's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Independence, they moved to 3-8 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
